The student ID badge project is being led by Katawna Morse and Kasie Martin, who are also our student champions. These students approached the High School Principal and asked him what are some needs he sees as the principal of the high school. Mr. Williams, the principal, has been very passionate about school safety due to recent traumatic events that took place in schools in the last few years. One of these events happened at a school in Arkansas. Due to this, Mr. Williams has been in the processing of installing safety measures in the school including new doors, locks, safety procedures and trainings. Something Mr. Williams expressed great interest in was a student ID badge. This badge would allow students to have photo ID that serves as verification that the student is in fact a student of Mulberry High School, and therefore has safety clearance to be on campus. This project is in the beginning stages of creation, which includes a photo ID on a decorative background with the high school name and mascot on it. The dream is for this to eventually include a QR code on it that would link to a database which could be scanned. This would ensure complete verification of the registration and clearance of the student to be on school grounds. This would eventually be put into place at the elementary and middle school. The community partners are the mayor and the police department in Mulberry, Mr. Williams, Dr. Myers the superintendent, and the school board. The clients are the students and faculty of the Mulberry/Pleasant View School District. We are using an Apple Mac Computer and utilizing photoshop, canva, and various other technologies to design these.
